Short Review: Action Comics #998

The end of the Booster arc...I think.

SPOILERS AHEAD

This was a good issue but this arc did drag a little. I don't think it needed the possible future of the Zod family. But there were some great moments for Booster and the leads. Booster shows Superman the truth about Jor-El and knows how horrible it is for Superman to witness his mother dying. Booster is very insightful pointing out that Clark would try to undo the past. Clark finally realizes the burden and temptation time travelling offers. Thanks to seeing his own parents Booster understands him and visa versa.

Booster breaks the rules knowing he will be the one that has to deal with the fallout just to give Superman a happy reunion with his family. But no one except Skeets and him know. Superman does fix up his own blunder by explaining what happened to Barry Allen. Booster calls Barry out on his own time travelling which I heard Flash fans hated. But if anyone should call him out on it then it should be Booster. And even if it was retconned 1) technically Booster could know about it and b) the fact he has the cosmic treadmill proves Barry time travels too much any way. Meaning that in canon it could be implying something else.

Everyone liked the Marvel mention but it didn't surprise me nor so I take it as gossip. I just thought it was a joke.

I would have liked for Jon to learn Booster is a hero or completed the family theme by having Booster meet up with Rip. The latter would have especially been meaningful since Booster and Superman had to leave their parents behind to be in the present with their kids. I assume Rip was who Booster had to face after his Lane/Kent fix up. I really enjoyed this issue although its sad to see Booster leave the main canon again.
