DC Solicits for January 2018

No new books caught my eye.

ACTION COMICS #995
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art by BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND

Variant cover by NEIL EDWARDS and JAY LEISTEN
“Booster Shot” part three! Time is broken, and Superman and Booster Gold are in over their heads trying to repair it! Meanwhile, Lois Lane confronts her estranged father—and Sam Lane now stands face to face with his grandson Jon for the first time. As Clark struggles to reconcile the truth of his own father, can Lois Lane do the same?
On sale JANUARY 10 • # 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

I'm glad to see this Booster appearance is lasting longer. I checked out Booth's Twitter and he says he's going to Action Comics in January. So he's not doing the first two issues? Also, I've been hoping the Lane family would interact with Jon.

ACTION COMICS #996
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art by WILL CONRAD
Cover by DAN JURGENS and TREVOR SCOTT
Variant cover by NEIL EDWARDS and JAY LEISTEN
“Booster Shot” part four! Superman and Booster Gold are out of time, and they’ve found themselves marooned on a strange planet sometime in the future. So why does this planet’s infrastructure look…Kryptonian? The answer shakes the Man of Steel to the core as the ruler of this planet reveals himself…the son of Zod reigns supreme!
On sale JANUARY 24 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

I liked the son of God when he was Chris, though the Nightwing part was bad. I don't want him to be a villain.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #18
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by SERGIO SANDOVAL
Cover by MIKE McKONE
Variant cover by GUILLEM MARCH
Retailers: These issues will ship with two covers each. Please see the order form for details. Includes a code for a free digital download of this issue.
“Bizarro Reborn” part five! With the H.I.V.E. queen wreaking havoc in Gotham City, Artemis’ growing suspicion about Bizarro’s newfound intelligence could lead to a shocking discovery that will forever alter the future of the Outlaws. Meanwhile, would Bizarro really invite a new member to join the team without running it by Red Hood first? And would that new addition really be the Creeper? (Yes, and maybe…)
On sale JANUARY 10 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T+

No mention of the SS which is good. I wonder if Lobdell will write more about Jason resisting the H.I.V.E. mind control like in Red Hood/Arsenal. That guy was a lackey though. The Bizarro story sounds like a parallel to the Duella story with Artemis more active in her suspicion than Roy was with his distrust. New members would be a good plot but the Creeper ? Why would Bizarro think he's  a good teammate ? Was this why we saw him as a reporter in the Who is Artemis arc ? Jason might love his buddy but Bizarro is really pushing it.

WONDER WOMAN #38
Written by JAMES ROBINSON
Art by EMANUELA LUPACCHINO
Cover by PAUL RENAUD
Variant cover by JENNY FRISON
“SWAN’S SONG” part one! Vanessa Kapatelis thought the world of Wonder Woman—nobody had treated her with more kindness after the accident that shattered her life. But tragedy wasn’t finished with Vanessa...and she’s come to believe that the woman she trusted most is the author of everything that happened to her!
On sale JANUARY 10 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

I was annoyed with Rucka for writing the Kapatelis out of the Wonder Woman origin. I could have done without Vanessa being a villain again. I hope Julia is still alright.

Isn't Aquaman supposed to be married to Mera soon? I'm not hearing any updates on that. Gleason writing with Tomasi ? Interesting. I like Gleason's writing. And Johns' evil future Titans are back and not being written by Tynion.
