DC Solicits for June 2017

I was really expecting more event stuff.

DARK DAYS: THE FORGE #1

Written by SCOTT SNYDER and JAMES TYNION IV • Art by JIM LEE, ANDY KUBERT, JOHN ROMITA JR. and others
Cover by JIM LEE and SCOTT WILLIAMS • Variant cover by ANDY KUBERT • Variant cover by JOHN ROMITA JR.

DARKNESS COMES TO THE DC UNIVERSE WITH THE MYSTERY OF THE FORGE! Aquaman, The Flash and more of DC’s pantheon of heroes suspect Batman of hiding a dark secret that could threaten the very existence of the multiverse! It’s an epic that will span generations—but how does it connect to the origins of one of DC’s most legendary heroes?
The great comics event of summer 2017 is about to begin courtesy of superstar writers Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV and illustrated by a master class of comics artists: Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr.! You do not want to miss this one!
ONE-SHOT • On sale JUNE 14 • 40 pg, FC, card-stock covers, $4.99 US • RATED T

Once again Batman is doing shady things and hiding them from other heroes. Shocking? I mean this could be fun but I'm not trying get titles with certain writers. Snyder isn't on that list yet but Tynion is.

WONDER WOMAN: STEVE TREVOR #1
Written by TIM SEELEY • Art by CHRISTIAN DUCE • Cover by PAUL RENAUD • Variant cover by YANICK PAQUETTE
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
When Wonder Woman saved Steve Trevor from dying on the shores of Themyscira, his life—and hers—changed forever! In this special issue, learn more about the tumultuous partnership these two have had over the years…and get a hint at where it’s going in the future! Have these two finally admitted they’re meant for each other? Or do the Fates have other ideas?
One-shot • On sale JUNE 7 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T+

Steve looks too much like Ollie for my taste. I started to get excited about the possibilities of this one but...well another Eternal writer. I'm going to have to pass.

MARTIAN MANHUNTER/ MARVIN THE MARTIAN SPECIAL #1
Written by STEVE ORLANDO and FRANK BARBERE
Art by AARON LOPRESTI and JEROME K. MOORE
Cover by AARON LOPRESTI
Backup story written by JIM FANNING
Backup story art by JOHN LOTER
Variant cover by STEPHEN DeSTEFANO
Martian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian’s determination for world domination. J’onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus. And the bonus Looney Tunes backup story features DC characters written by Jim Fanning with art by John Loter!
On sale JUNE 14 • 48 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T

Truly to most obvious DC/Looney Tunes crossover. Other than the Booster Gold/Flintstones issue coming out soon I can't say I'm too interested in these. That said I appreciate the humor of J'onn seriously questioning himself because of Mavin wanting to blow up a planet to get a better view.

SUPER SONS #5
Written by PETER J. TOMASI • Art and cover by JORGE JIMENEZ • Variant cover by DUSTIN NGUYEN
“Battle in the Batcave”! The battle with Kid Amazo leaves Jon and Damian’s friendship in ruins as the boys decide their partnership isn’t working out! It’s a rumble between Superboy and Robin like you’ve never seen as the boys rage through the house Batman built!
On sale JUNE 21 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T

Not surprising since they started off with Damian kidnapping him. It doesn't seem likely but I want Jon to win and for Damian to finally be humbled. His attitude needs to be taken down a few pegs.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #11
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL • Art by DEXTER SOY • Cover by KENNETH ROCAFORT • Variant cover by GUILLEM MARCH
“Who is Artemis?” finale! The Dark Trinity faces a bigger threat than ever before, with thousands of lives hanging in the balance! After Akila resurrects an army of Amazon warriors aimed at destroying an entire country, Artemis is given a choice—fulfill her destiny as the champion of Bana-Mighdall, or stand by her new allies, Red Hood and Bizarro?
On sale JUNE 14 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T+

Kind of big spoilers here. Still I'm glad we're getting more of Akila. The team is still new so seeing a test of loyalty this early is nice.

I'm waiting for Tynion to get off co-writing duties before I get the current Batwoman. Batman '66 has Robin becoming Nightwing? Well at least the suit works for the period. Odyssey of the Amazons is ending and I'll be sad to see another title go. Other than that there's not that much that interests me.
