Jason Todd...the strongest Robin

An ongoing theory I've seen pop up from time to time.

DC Rebirth Solicits for June

Found here although the some of the images are messed up.

So Scott Lobdell...

Or rather the reaction many have towards him and Jason Todd now that he's writing a third series with the character.

Another Spider Book I'd like to have

I haven't brought anything from Marvels' superhero books for years except for a few books that have Scarlet Spider or Spider-Girl (Mayday Parker.) But other than the Spider marriage coming back there is a title idea I could support that I'm surprised hasn't been used yet.

Teaser Images for Rebirth

Out of the three I'd say Damians' new book looks like the most interesting one.

I've been busy

I had planned to catch up on my reviews but I've been working a lot lately. I miss my comics but I'm still too tired to read/review them. Hopefully I'll have time soon.

The Wolf Among Us Playthrough

For Sally. It's like watching a movie...well mini series since it's over seven hours. Things in the plot change base on what choices the player made, I'm not sure what choices the comic follows. If you just want to see the beginning it's here, spoilers for the stuff you haven't seen later on.

We'll get solicits soon

Unless rumors of them waiting are true we'll be getting all the names of the creative teams involved. I already heard a rumor of Tynion getting a big book, I just don't want anyone that was involved in the Eternal books to be writing RHATO. I'll be getting books depending on who's on these titles.

Edit: I think just the characters that are in the JL and have solos are coming out in July. At least the new books that are coming out?

Heroes randomly hating other characters

I've seen a few variations of this trope.
  1. The hero(es) have a good reason based on past experiences with said character(s).
  2. The writer(s) show their bias by having most heroes treat this character like crap.
  3. To make the character(s) more sympathetic they make them look pathetic to make us feel for them.
Lately I've seen number 2 and 3 used the most. Unless number 1 is written well it has the same effect as the others: it makes the heroes look like jackasses. Their bahavior usually comes across as unnecessarily mean/cruel and makes them look like snobs who think their better than others. This was done with Booster and Ted in CTIC, etc. I've seen this done recently with Jason Todd when it makes no sense. It's usually lazy and is mostly a mean spirited side note in a story.

Instead of having a hero be cool by maturely saying, "I don't agree with what you've done--what I've hear about you--but I'm willing to help." We get, "I don't want you help you, I hate you, even though we've never (or barely) had any panel time together. I'm going to judge you although I don't know you personally and I'll be as petty as I can about it."

That makes me dislike the heroes more than the villains. Don't get me wrong, I still hate out of character jerky behavior between characters that know each other well. This is just another pet peeve.

I'd love to know the context

Just what are you trying to say Bruce?

Conversation with my sister

She watches Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. While she used to be into comics (she introduced me to them) she sorta lost track of most of it. I asked her about Rip Hunters' portrayal in Legends of Tomorrow and she doesn't care for him. I'm not sure if she dislikes how he's written or the actor. Anyway she asked me about Booster Gold due to a fan theory she heard. While we're having this discussion she looked up Boosters' bio online and yells-- "He's Boosters' SON?!"

I wish I could have gotten her to read the comics first. I'm not sure why but prior to our talk she assumed Booster was basically like a Flash villain because they both are from the same time? Then asked me to explain why I loved the character. I can make metas for why but it's not easy to say these things over the phone. I've basically summed it up by saying: he has hidden depths, he's funny and has amazing character development. I tried to get into the whole "Greatest Hero you Never Heard of" stuff but I don't think she got it.

Bruce and Clark don't deal with emotions well

How did they go from this to throwing punches when they argue? Poor Alfred is stuck in the middle of this. I think Bruce has more drama with his friends than all the Robins.

Maybe Rebirth will help

I have comics I still haven't read because I just haven't been in the mood. Even the two series I normally enjoy (BTTF is delayed anyway) I don't feel like reading. There have been some very blah comics lately (Titans Hunt) and the scans I've seen of other titles don't help. Seriously Damian came across as a complete jackass in the BaRE pics then I remembered that series has some of the writers from Robin War. I've heard rumors of DC not announcing creative teams for Rebirth was because some titles still hadn't decided who were on them. I'm not thrilled with a number of them.

I'm not sure how to phrase what I'm feeling. A comic rut? Not-quite-apathy? Semi-comic-depression? At the moment I'm not in a rush to read any of it.
